เริ่มงานแรกเป็นคนเขียนการ์ตูนที่ชัยพฤกษ์ ทำได้สองเดือนก็ลาออกด้วยเหตุผลที่มันไม่ตรงกับใจเท่าไร เมื่อได้อ่าน ไปยาลใหญ่ ฉบับแรกบนแผงรู้สึกถูกใจในบุคลิกของหนังสือ อยากร่วมงานด้วย ครั้งแรกไปสมัคร TRY OUT เป็นนักแสดงละครของศิษย์สะดือ ด้วยลูกตื้อและบุคลิกที่ไม่เหมือนใคร จึงได้ร่วมงานกับศิษย์สะดือสมใจ ความรักของมาลัยในห้องไอซียู เป็นละครเรื่องแรกที่เล่น ได้รับบทเป็นคนแก่ในโรงพยาบาล จบจากละครก็ก้าวเข้าสู่ถนนหนังสือ ในตำแหน่งฝ่ายศิลปของไปยาลใหญ่
ที่ไปยาลใหญ่ถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนของชีวิต สังคมในไปยาลใหญ่ล้วนเป็นนักอ่านตัวยงด้วยกันทั้งนั้น

มี ศุ บุญเลี้ยงเป็นบรรณาธิการ หลังจากงานได้ตีพิมพ์ อุดม เริ่มรับผิดชอบคอลัมน์ต่างๆ ในไปยาลใหญ่ โดยใช้นามปากกาว่า “โน้สหน้ามึน ดูหนัง ออนไลน์ หลานเจ๊นี้ขายผลไม้” ควบคู่ตำแหน่งฝ่ายศิลปของหนังสือ ใครที่เป็นแฟนไปยาลใหญ่คงคุ้นเคยและติดอกติดใจกับเกมส์กวนๆ ในคอลัมน์ ‘สารภีมีดีให้’ อุดมเป็นสารภีในช่วงท้ายของหนังสือก่อนที่ไปยาลใหญ่จะปิดตัวเองลง
อุดมพาความสามารถเข้าสู่เส้นทางสายบันเทิงโดยเริ่มจากเป็นตัวประกอบในรายการวิก 07 ของ เจเอสแอล และเล่นเกมส์รายการจุดเดือด เดี่ยวไมโครโฟน 7 (2008) ทางผู้ใหญ่ในเจเอสแอลประทับใจลีลาจึงชักชวนมาร่วมงานด้วยในรายการ ยุทธการขยับเหงือก ซึ่งเป็นรายการ Comedian Show ที่มีความนิยมเป็นอันดับต้นๆ ของช่อง 5 ในยุคนั้น จึงทำให้อุดมได้แจ้งเกิดในวงการบันเทิงอย่าง เต็มตัวในชื่อ เสนาฯ โน้ส
และต่อมาในยุคอดีตนั้นเคยแสดงเป็นตัวปริศนาในภาพ VTR กับคุณหมี ปลื้มที่ใช้ชื่อว่า “ปริศนา อ้วน-ผอม” ในรายการชิงร้อยชิงล้าน ของบริษัท เวิร์คพอยท์ เอ็นเทอร์เทนเมนท์ จำกัด (มหาชน) ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2533 ถึงต้นปี พ.ศ. 2535 ทางช่อง 7 หลัง
จากความสำเร็จในครั้งแรก อุดม แต้พานิช ได้ตัดสินใจแยกตัวออกมาจากรายการยุทธการขยับเหงือก และได้สร้างปรากฏการณ์ขึ้นในเมืองไทย นั่นก็คือ การพูดตลกคนเดียวบนเวที ทำให้คนไทย ได้รู้จักคำว่า Stand Up Comedy หรือ ในชื่อไทย เดี่ยวไมโครโฟน เป็นครั้งแรก
