But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It requires some serious suspension of disbelief due to the crazy characters. Where we see who has superpowers and most of it looks ridiculous at best, it’s similar to The Boys in terms of dark superhero stories. But it didn’t really put together much. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy this movie for what it was. There are regular fight scenes that are beautifully choreographed and feature appropriate R-rated violence, including (my personal favorite) exploding heads!

The characters are generally one-note, and main protagonist Diego Diaz (Brennan Mejia) is sympathetic but rather bland and doesn’t make much of an impression. Bruce Willis has a bigger role than expected as The Lobe, and One of the more bizarre characters he has played. But this is Michael Rooker’s film that steals every scene.
His scheming overseer isn’t particularly clever. But he is greedy and ambitious and wants to take the Loeb’s money and use it for a lavish retirement. Another highlight is Tom Cavanagh as Gordon AKA The Conductor, who looks like he’s having a fun time, but (spoiler alert) he’s tragically killed midway through. And it’s less interesting without him.
The unduly brutal female security guard deserves a show at the end that never happens. And you can’t help but feel like this opens the door for a potential sequel. Which I’m not sure I’d be interested in. However, I would definitely look into a potential spin-off featuring the Payback character, The Punisher, and the film would be a lot cooler if he was our main protagonist. I felt like there were too many characters to develop any real relationships with anyone. So I never cared about who lived or died.
Corrective measures are certainly never boring. But I think it would work better by keeping the super-powered elements. But probably no implant is unreliable because it’s more of a distraction than anything else overall. The solution is free on Tubi, so at least you don’t have to pay to watch it. If you tell me you hate it I’ll get over it because the sci-fi/fantasy elements will put a lot of people off. But I enjoyed it for the regular fight scenes and violence. If we ever get a spin-off focusing on the Payback characters, I would watch that in a heartbeat.

Remedial Measures is one of the weirdest action pictures you’ll see this year. But I think the quirky perks are always welcome for me. There are too many characters for us to care about anyone. And prosthetics are more distracting than anything. But it also has R-rated violence and regular fight scenes that are (maybe) worth checking out.
