และอีกไม่กี่ปีเขาได้ตัดสินใจแยกตัวออกมาจากรายการยุทธการขยับเหงือก และได้สร้างปรากฏการณ์ขึ้นในเมืองไทย นั่นก็คือ การพูดตลกคนเดียวบนเวที ทำให้คนไทย ดูหนัง ออนไลน์ ได้รู้จักคำว่า Stand Up Comedy หรือ ในชื่อไทย เดี่ยวไมโครโฟน เป็นครั้งแรก จนมาถึงเดี่ยว 10 ในทุกวันนี้อุดม แต้พานิช เกิดเมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 1 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2511
ที่ตำบลคลองพลู อำเภอบ้านบึง จังหวัดชลบุรี เป็นบุตรของคุณแม่ทองสุข อารีล้น กับคุณพ่อสมจิต แต้พานิช ครอบครัวมีเชื้อสายจีน มีพี่น้อง 3 คนโดยอุดมเป็นลูกคนกลางสำเร็จการศึกษาระดับประถมศึกษาจากโรงเรียนวัดศาลาลอย เทศบาล 2 (ปัจจุบันคือ โรงเรียนเทศบาล 2 (วิภัชศึกษา)
จังหวัดสุรินทร์) ระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนต้นจากโรงเรียนสุรวิทยาคาร จังหวัดสุรินทร์
และระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพ จาก วิทยาลัยเทคนิคชลบุรี และได้หนีออกจากบ้านมาอยู่กับญาติที่เปิดร้านขายผลไม้ อุดมเคยเรียนศิลปะที่ วิทยาลัยเพาะช่าง แต่เรียนได้ถึง 2 ปีต้องออกจากการศึกษาเพราะไม่มีเงินเรียนต่อ อุดมเริ่มงานแรกโดยการเป็นนักเขียนการ์ตูนที่นิตยสารชัยพฤกษ์การ์ตูน ของไทยวัฒนาพานิช
โดยใช้นามปากกาว่า ‘Note Namun’ (โน้ต หน้ามึน) ได้ค่าวาด 150 บาทต่อการ์ตูน 2 ช่อง และเมื่อได้อ่านนิตยสาร ไปยาลใหญ่ ฉบับแรกบนแผงเขารู้สึกถูกใจในบุคลิกของหนังสือ เดี่ยวไมโครโฟน 10 (2013) และอยากร่วมงานด้วย

เมื่อ 20 กว่าปีที่แล้วนั้น นิตยสารไปยาลใหญ่จากสำนักพิมพ์ “สำนักศิษย์สะดือ” ถือว่าเป็นนิตยสารที่ฉีกแนวออกมาจากนิตยสารอื่นๆบนแผง ได้รับความนิยมและได้รับเสียงชื่นชมอย่างมาก ทั้งจากนักอ่านและผู้คนในแวดวงต่าง ๆ ที่ไปยาลใหญ่ถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนของชีวิตอุดมเพราะสังคมในไปยาลใหญ่ล้วนเป็นนักอ่านตัวยงและมีอิทธิพลต่ออุดม นอกจากนั้นเขายังค้นพบความสามารถในการเขียนหนังสือ

อุดมพาความสามารถเข้าสู่เส้นทางสายบันเทิงโดยเริ่มจากเป็นตัวประกอบในรายการวิก 07 ของเจเอสแอล และต่อมาก็ได้แสดงเป็นตัวปริศนาในภาพ VTR กับศุภกร อุดมชัย หรือ “หมี ปลื้ม” ที่ใช้ชื่อว่า “ปริศนา อ้วน-ผอม” ในรายการชิงร้อยชิงล้าน ของบริษัท เวิร์คพอยท์ เอ็นเทอร์เทนเมนท์ จำกัด (มหาชน) ตั้งแต่ 17 มกราคม 2533 – 29 มกราคม 2535 ทางช่อง 7 และเล่นเกมในรายการจุดเดือด
จนทางผู้ใหญ่ในเจเอสแอลประทับใจลีลาจึงชักชวนมาร่วมงานในรายการ ยุทธการขยับเหงือก ซึ่งเป็นรายการ Comedian Show ที่มีความนิยมเป็นอันดับต้น ๆ ของช่อง 5 ในยุคนั้น จึงทำให้อุดมแจ้งเกิดในวงการบันเทิงอย่างเต็มตัวในชื่อ เสนาฯ โน้ต หลังจากความสำเร็จในครั้งแรก อุดม
ได้ตัดสินใจแยกตัวออกมาจากรายการยุทธการขยับเหงือก แล้วหันไปจัดเดี่ยวไมโครโฟน โดยเดี่ยวไมโครโฟนครั้งแรกเกิดขึ้นหลังจากอุดมร่วมเป็นพิธีกรของรายการยุทธการขยับเหงือกได้ประมาณ 4 ปี อุดมเริ่มทำเดี่ยวไมโครโฟนประมาณ 2 ปี ซึ่งมีเงินทุนอยู่ 4 แสนบาท เปิดแสดง 3 รอบเมื่อวันที่ 23 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2538 เวลาบ่าย 2 โมง ที่หอประชุมเมืองไทยประกันชีวิต อาคารเมืองไทย-ภัทร คอมเพล็กซ์ ซึ่งประสบความสำเร็จเป็นอย่างมาก
