Allison, a young woman, sits on a dock on a foggy lake. She then retreats to a cabin and sits in a room where she looks at a notebook. The film then moves to Part One: The Bear in the Road, at a remote lake house in the Adirondack Mountains. Gabe and Blair entertain film director Allison. Guests from out of town and former actors looking for inspiration. Gabe’s quick interest in her is evident, as is his unsatisfying relationship with Blair.
His pregnant partner Blair and Gabe bicker constantly in front of an upset Allison. with Blair taking aim at Gabe’s lackluster music career. And Gabe criticizes Blair’s drinking habits. Allison became part of these arguments. Switching to Blair and Gabe’s side. And it makes them even more aggressive towards each other. When Gabe rants about the failures of modern society Blair becomes upset and threatens to leave after Allison jokingly sides with Gabe’s critique of feminism. Allison slowly left as Blair and Gabe retreated to their bedroom.
